Padre Pio And America - $18.95

First titled, The Holy Man on the Mountain, this book tells the fascinating life story of Padre Pio, with emphasis on his life as a seminarian, young priest and his early decades at San Giovanni Rotondo. Incredible is the number of times the Capuchins sent him home sick unto death while a seminarian and young priest and how he was finally sent to remote San Giovanni Rotondo “For a couple of weeks of mountain air.” He never left. But from this small, remote mountain friary, he became world famous and exercised unbelievable influence on the entire world—though early on, he was forbidden by his superiors to preach, to write or to correspond. A few clerics developed enmity toward Padre Pio, resulting several times in orders from his superiors that he be moved. It is simply hilarious to learn why ne never was—though being under obedience, he was entirely willing to do so.

The author also weaves in the Saint’s early work with L’Americana, Mary Pyle, his “foreign ambassadress,” and then with the American GI’s who came to visit him during WWII, with San Giovanni Rotondo was liberated from the Germans. Padre Pio developed a special love for Americans and America—to the point that he wished that all Americans would become his spiritual children.

This book demonstrate Padre Pio’s great love for his parents, his amazing sense of humor, his abstemious eating, his uncanny knowledge of people (even before they visited), and his profound supernatural awareness. In sum, Padre Pio and America is an inspiring book that will instill a profound awe in readers because it shows the impact a truly saintly priest can have on all who come into contact with him—and in Padre Pio’s case, even on the whole world!

Stories of Padre Pio
Padre Pio:The Stigmatist
- In this book one sees the marvelous way in which Padre Pio dealt with people to heal their bodies, souls and hearts - through miracles, providential coincidences and other remarkable answers to prayers. Madame Tangari (who was herself a remarkable person) describes how she met Padre Pio, how she became his spiritual daughter and how he guided her during the last eighteen years of his life. She tells stories of wonderful assistance that she and others received from Padre Pio regarding conversions, illness, bereavement, lost objects, broken marriage, irrational fear, business, getting out of Freemasonry and, of course, the spiritual life. Madame Tangari describes Padre Pio's amazing gift of easily solving difficult problems with a few highly inspired words, enabling the petitioner to receive special graces and favors from God and begin life anew in happiness and peace. Stories of Padre Pio gives a rare, firsthand view of this great and holy priest who - as many are hoping - may soon become a canonized Saint of the Catholic Church. Padre Pio died September 23, 1968, his funeral attended by over 100,000 people. During the 58 years he was a priest, his monastery at San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, became a mecca for pilgrims from all over the world. Born Francesco Forgione on May 25, 1887 at Pietrelcina in southeastern Italy, Padre Pio joined the Capuchin Order in 1903 and was ordained in 1910. On September 20, 1918 he received the sacred wounds of Christ, or the stigmata, which he bore the rest of his life. Renowned for the stigmata, which modern medical science could not explain, Padre Pio also possessed other unusual qualities, such as bilocation, celestial perfume, the reading of hearts, miraculous cures, remarkable conversions and prophetic insight. Although he did not leave his monastery and was under obedience not to preach, this humble Capuchin monk became world famous for his piety, his counsel and his miracles, and he was universally regarded as a Saint in his own time.

Padre Pio - Miracle Man

Padre Pio - Between Heaven and Earth

Sergio Castelitto (Mostly Martha) stars as the famous Italian saint, Padre Pio (1887-1968). Like Saint Francis of Assisi, Padre Pio had the stigmata: the wounds of Christ visible on his body. Throughout his life, he performed miracles of healings, caring for both the physically sick as well as those with spiritual illnesses. Filled with gorgeous scenery from the Italian countryside, this film follows Padre Pio's life from a young boy through his death. Director Carlo Carlei (Flight of the Innocent) captures the humility, humor and common sense of St. Pio, as well as showing the persecution he suffered from both satanic attacks and misguided Church officials who distrusted him. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2001 Italian Film Awards.
Based on the historical records and the personal testimony of his fellow friars, this is the amazing true story of the life of the famous stigmatic monk, St. Padre Pio, a contemporary saint who died in 1968.
